Maunch

Maunch
Long sleeve worn by both men and women, esp. fashionable in the 14c. They are to be seen in many illuminated MSS and were frequently inveighed against by preachers as excess of vanity. Various *sumptuary regulations also sought to circumscribe their use. This sleeve was also used as a heraldic *charge.
